Museum of Central Finland - Museum of Cultural History. It serves as a regional museum of Central Finland and the City Museum of Jyväskylä. In addition to exhibitions, the museum conducts research, recording, education and studies of building culture and cultural environment of the area. The museum building itself is worth visiting. The museum, designed by Alvar Aalto and completed in 1961, is located in Ruusupuisto in Yalila, which is named after the teachers who lived in the area. The museum building was extended in 1989-1990. Its postal address is Alvara Aalto Street 7. Until 2017, the main exhibitions of the museum were Jyväskylä and Central Finland.
The museum was closed for reconstruction of 2017-2020 and was opened to the public in February 2020, when the museum also opened a new permanent exhibition in search of Central Finland.
The architectural ensemble of the site includes the adjacent museum Alvar Aalto.
