Alvíss, known as the "All-Wise" dwarf in Norse mythology, found himself engaged to Thor's daughter, Þrúðr. However, Thor was dissatisfied with this union and hatched a scheme. He informed Alvíss that, due to his diminutive stature, he needed to demonstrate his wisdom. Alvíss consented, but Thor's examinations continued until sunrise. As a consequence of being a dwarf, Alvíss petrified when the sunlight struck him as dawn broke.
