i8 Gallery

Since opening in 1995, i8 gallery has been shaped by a dynamic mix of Icelandic and international contemporary artists. With early core artists including first generation Icelandic conceptualists, i8’s aesthetic is grounded in a “poetic” conceptualism that resonates through the generations and diverse practices of the 24 artists it represents today.

In 2010, i8 moved to its current space near Reykjavík harbour, and in 2017 it opened the Marshall House, a public-private collaboration, open to the public, housing the Living Art Museum, the artist-run gallery Kling & Bang, and Olafur Eliasson’s Reykjavík satellite studio.
