This ring, with a stirrup-shaped design, originates from the medieval period, particularly from the late 12th century to the early 13th century. It was discovered during excavations conducted in the 1970s at the archaeological section of the Winchester Museum on Victoria Road in Winchester, Hampshire.
The distinctive feature of this ring is its stirrup shape, which was in vogue during the latter part of the 12th century and the first half of the 13th century. The pointed rim of the ring still bears traces of enamel, although it has decayed over the centuries while buried in the ground.
