Reflections, Helsinki

"Reflections" by Risto Salonena are made of glass and aluminum. The column, consisting of glass plates, is mounted between polished aluminium ailerons. A significant effect is created by lighting, which improves the structure of the sculpture and, reflected from the surfaces, their opacity. "Reflections" refers to a trend that emerged in the 1960s, when kinetic impressions and abstract natural phenomena associated with vision were used. Some are located in the southern part of the Merihaka Embankment. Originally, it was part of a larger plan, including plants and a street cafe. However, the plan was not implemented after the sculpture was erected.

The work of art belongs to the HAM Helsinki Art Museum collection.
